About My Clients

I am accepting new clients both online & in-person. We often come to therapy burdened with anxiety/mood concerns, grief/loss issues, men’s issues, low self-esteem, LGBTQ+ issues, or challenges with life transitions. Feeling better matters but taking those first steps to make changes and moving towards growth is not always easy. You want to move forward and make positive changes but are not sure where to start. You may be struggling even if you’re smart and motivated, but you CAN feel better.

My Background and Approach

Having helped hundreds of clients in San Diego for the last 20 years, I’d appreciate taking this journey with you. You WILL hear back from me if you reach out to me. I’ve worked in community mental health, hospice, psychiatric hospitals, substance use and seniors’ programs. I utilize proven interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based, Strength-Based, Motivational Interviewing and more. The focus of my training in graduate school was the delivery of services for and the treatment of mental health. I have completed multiple trainings over 20 years including in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Substance Use Disorders, Cultural Competency, Treating Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Depression in Older Adults, Human Sexuality, Domestic Violence, Self-Compassion, Law and Ethics, and many other relevant areas.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I entered the fields of mental health and social work because of my passion for providing quality mental health services to all people, regardless of barriers they may have faced due to socioeconomic status, race or ethnicity, severe and persistent mental illness, gender or sexual identity issues. I have worked in a wide and diverse array of settings, often serving clients who had not previously had the opportunity to receive consistent quality care. My experience also includes working with men's issues, including addressing concerns related to masculinity and gender roles, issues of identity, connecting with loved ones, and learning to express emotions in a healthy way, which as men we are often not taught to do. I have also worked with clients concerning issues of grief and loss, sexual identity and coming out, and work/life balance. My clients consistently tell me that they feel heard, understood, and relieved. Together we can address what is challenging you and find a way forward.
