About My Clients
I specialize in working with adults in the kink/BDSM, polyamorous/non-monogamous, trans/gender-nonconforming/non-binary, LGBQIA+, and sex work communities. I work with those who live openly and out; and those who have more conservative and private lifestyles. I welcome people of every ability, age, gender, national origin, race/ethnicity, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation.
My Background and Approach
I have been a member of and mentor in New York City's BDSM and LGBTQ communities for about two decades. I hold a Master of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Social Work, a Master of Education in Human Sexuality, and a Doctoral degree in clinical sexology. I'm licensed to practice psychotherapy in New York (LCSW # 086704), Washington DC (LICSW # LC200002083), and Colorado (CSW # 09928901), and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) and CST Supervisor. I’ve completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training through the Parnell Institute, which specializes in Attachment-Focused EMDR, and I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in partnership with Journey Clinical. Most people decide to work with me because of my specialized training and experience, or because they feel more comfortable speaking to a therapist with first-hand knowledge of alternative identities and lifestyles—I work with the communities I'm part of and share identities and orientations with many of my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an out and proud member of the queer, trans, kink, poly communities, and about being a former sex worker. I am an activist and a disrupter, am continually pushing against my privilege, deconstructing normative socialization, and detoxifying from internalized capitalism. As a white anti-racist therapist, I create space for conversations that de/reconstruct whiteness, and cultivate positive racial and intersectional identities. While my work as a therapist is my primary focus, I like to stay involved in education, research, and outreach. To those ends: I supervise early career therapists and therapists-in-training; I offer supervision and consultations to seasoned psychotherapists and sex therapists; I am an adjunct professor at New York University, where I teach sexual health in social work practice; and the founder of ManhattanAlternative.com, a not-for-profit listing of alternative lifestyle affirmative providers.
