My Background and Approach
My style is quite eclectic. I combine traditional talk therapy with experiential techniques and humor. I believe in human to human interaction: an empathic and non-judgmental approach to therapy. I also provide EMDR therapy and hypnotherapy. My specialty areas: trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, LGBT population challenges, DV, and substance abuse. I am a therapist, trained life coach, co-parent facilitator, and mediator who specializes in working with relationship and family issues. I have also been an assistant professor of psychology. I believe that teaching has made me a better therapist and being a therapist made me a better teacher. I hope to meet with and work with you someday soon!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I use trauma-informed therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, IFS, and Hypnotherapy in my practice. My clients know that I do no cookie cutter therapy. If you choose me, prepare to drop the shame and get the lesson, and you may even learn to laugh at yourself in the process, which I find to be one of the greatest joys of living, and one of life's most beautiful experiences. I believe in person to person therapy. I am not the expert. You are the expert on your own life and I am the vessel that you work through! I like to tackle the hard stuff and help others heal from the past. Remember, it is about healing and I believe that one cannot move forward in a healthy way without healing from the past. I do not believe that any of us should live our lives looking backwards over our shoulders. Rather, we take a a glimpse, heal, and live in the present, while planning for an amazing future.
