My Background and Approach

Often, unconscious thoughts and feelings drive our interactions, propelling us to repeat patterns in relationship with ourselves and others. Taking a look inward can be scary and requires vulnerability. My primary focus is creating a supportive and safe environment, which allows for deeper aspects of the self to emerge. Integrating parts of the self that were once concealed creates a new freedom and the possibility of choice, which ultimately provides a more fulfilling and meaningful way of being. I tailor therapy to your unique needs, concerns, and individuality. I primarily work from a contemporary psychoanalytic and LGBTQ affirmative lens and incorporate mindfulness, cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), and family systems theory when appropriate. This means we explore your past to make sense of your present-day challenges, as well as work to alleviate your symptoms. We will explore your old ways of coping that no longer serve you and work to foster new and adaptive ones.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The most fundamental element of a successful therapy experience is the relationship formed between therapist and patient. I encourage you take see if what I've written resonates with to see if we may be a good fit. I believe therapy is a deeply personal and rewarding endeavor. It enables us to grow into our authentic selves and lead lives that are both meaningful and fulfilling. I will create a therapeutic experience where you feel seen, understood, and met. My style is warm, engaged, and gently challenging. Becoming curious about yourself is the first step. Whatever you are struggling with, I will help you promote positive change, access your internal resources, and utilize your inherent strengths. I enjoy working with a diverse group of people. Identities of any race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, ability, immigration status, or religion are welcome in my practice.
