About My Clients
Often my clients have been to a therapist or two in the past but haven't found what they were looking for. I work with people who have religious trauma, developmental trauma, complex PTSD, as well as people who are LGBTQ+, TCKS, artists, activists, and in the helping professions. My clients are resilient, creative, and brave people who are tired of the status quo and curious about doing deeper work to finally engage and transform the pain in their lives, instead of simply coping with it.
My Background and Approach
I work from a combination of models, focusing on a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens. My style is warm, sincere, and direct. I will help us listen not just to your words, but also to how you relate to your body, your self, and to me. It's my experience that in the very process of giving yourself and/or your relationship deep attention, change begins. Some of the models I draw from include relational psychodynamic therapy, psychoanalytic principles, somatic IFS principles, systems theory, queer theory, the wisdom of nature, and the creative process. Within each therapy relationship we will discover what is helpful from my training for your lived experience. We’ll also work together to access your own embodied wisdom to guide our work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Environmental, systemic, and internalized oppressions from our varying identities deeply impact our mental health and wellbeing. As Smruti Desai says, systemic oppression cannot be solved by individual therapy. Still, I believe therapy can be one place where we can tend to the impacts of oppressive heirarchical systems. I believe the therapist’s integrity matters deeply to the process, and I’m committed to regularly uprooting white supremacist and capitalist ideas of healing and well-being from my practice.
