About My Clients
My areas of interest include LGBTQ+ identities, women’s health, mood and anxiety disorders, and chronic illness/physical disabilities. I also enjoy supporting individuals through their transition from adolescence to adulthood, especially as they progress through higher education.
My Background and Approach
I received my M.A. in Counseling and Rehabilitation from the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine. During my education, I studied the intersection between physical disabilities, chronic illness, and mental health. I also received training specific to LGBTQ+ issues and psychiatric disorders. I first started my practice through an internship with the Department of Mental Health, and I worked with clients experiencing a variety of concerns. My goal in our work together is to create an empowering environment for you to share, own, and continue your story in the way that you see fit. I employ a variety of modalities that are selected with you in mind. I often utilize feminist, narrative, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, in addition to other techniques as appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a person who has spent time on a therapist's couch, I believe that everyone deserves the tools to grow and change in positive ways. While each person has the ability to change, I also bring into focus how our families, friends, and larger society impact our current experiences and understanding of our own identities. It often takes an exploration of our history to understand how to move forward.
