About My Clients
I am passionate about helping teenagers and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma to feel unstuck and more in control, through a personalized and collaborative approach to talk therapy. I operate from a client-centered perspective, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life! My favorite part of being a therapist is helping to facilitate and observe as my clients become more empowered to take back power in their lives.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. This just means that I help people explore how their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world influence their emotions and behaviors. I operate from a client-centered approach - meaning you're in the driver's seat! I'm kind of like a co-pilot, throwing out suggestions and pointing out sights along the way. I also take into account how my clients operate in their relationships through things like attachment theory and personality theories.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have worked in Community Mental Health for the past three years, and am passionate about normalizing mental health services in communities where they have not been as accessible. I believe we all have inherent value, and desire to help my clients find theirs. I believe mental health recovery is a process, not a destination, and collaborate with my clients to develop tools to help them along the way. I believe holistic views are the most efficient way to come at a problem - meaning taking into account one's spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health. On a personal note I am a lover of dogs (who you'll often be able to see in video sessions), exercise, and a good soft pretzel. I try to model living authentically the best I can for my clients, which means you'll notice my transparency as soon as you see the blue in my hair!
