About My Clients
My clients are explorers. They never abandon themselves at sea. My clients often come seeking assistance with making sense of the world around them and within them. My clients are curious. They seek honest, authentic connections to themselves, their world, and those within it. They are not afraid of getting their hands dirty when exploring identity and all that that entails. They are able to think critically and want to develop ways to dig a little deeper.
My Background and Approach
My approach as an LCAT is integrative with a focus on liberation & restorative healing-centered and trauma-informed philosophies. I utilize techniques from many approaches but they are primarily Gestalt, Narrative, Open-Studio, and Intersectional in nature. I believe my clients are coming from a place of wholeness already and possess a unique set of strengths that allows them to navigate. There is nothing “broken” about you. My job is to uplift my clients to help them claim these strengths and call in the power they already possess. Though I am clinically trained as an art therapist, you will never hear me pathologize you. This work is designed as a tool for healing, as we so often find that healing is a lifelong journey. We will explore your narrative, intersectionality, challenges, ideas, past, present, future, and emotions. I believe in transparency and humor when they are appropriate and helpful. I’ve been told by colleagues that my style is “empathetic sass meets wise grandma”.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a supporter of BLM, a member of the LGBTQ community (I am a demifluid human), and I don't believe healing can happen without the integration of Intersectional Feminism. My values as a therapist is the protection of privacy and client autonomy. I believe you are the expert in you. I believe and live by the Art Therapy Association's Code of Ethics. I believe in transparency, vulnerability, honesty, and the implementation of boundaries as a means to achieving freedom. My personal beliefs center around identity and the importance of understanding identity and how it changes, stays the same and what we do in order to make sense of this in our own lives. I believe understanding identity leads to feelings of empowerment.
