About My Clients
I work with neurodivergent folks (ADHD, Autism [especially newly diagnosed], Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Tourette Syndrome) & LGBTQ+ clients who may be going through life transitions and experiencing depression, anxiety, impostor syndrome, relationship or family issues. I also work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds (first, second, third-and-higher generation immigrants) helping them navigate the acculturation process and emotional issues it may cause.
My Background and Approach
I am a Latinx therapist and part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have informed my practices around trauma, inclusion, connection, and sense of belonging. I enjoy learning from the people I serve and provide care to. I believe that developing a good therapeutic connection is key to a successful treatment. As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I approach therapy with the understanding that autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette’s syndrome (TS), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), dyslexia, dyspraxia are not “issues to be cured or solved”, but different neurotypes with unique needs, strengths, and challenges. My approach is client centered and strength-based, meaning that we focus on your needs (sensory, emotional, communication, physical etc.) to help you understand yourself, ways you may have been "masking" throughout your life and how you may develop ways to communicate your needs to others while respecting yourself and your neurodivergent brain.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in creating a safe space during therapy sessions to help you grow and learn more about yourself without judgement. Sometimes we are so overwhelmed that it becomes difficult to find hope and believe that things can improve. I believe that you, more than anyone, know what is best for you; and my role is to help you navigate the process of getting to know yourself while developing tools to manage emotional distress. I really enjoy helping my clients becoming more aware of their inner strength and what could be holding them back, so they can feel empowered and able to take the steps they need to overcome the challenges they are facing.
