About My Clients
My ideal client is someone that has some level of awareness of the problems they are experiencing, but might not know what to do about it. My specialization is in addiction, codependency, and financial stress. Life is hard, and it's even more difficult when you don't have the support you need. Through compassionate listening and empowerment, I aim to help you cultivate resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and build a life that is aligned with your values and aspirations!
My Background and Approach
My training background is in Social Work, which is rooted in empowerment and strengths perspective. My education has allowed me to develop skills to engage in a client-centered therapeutic approach that allows clients to be in the driver's seat of their therapeutic experience. I tend to see the world through a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) lens, which allows me to work with the tension of multiple things being true at the same time. My favorite example of a dialectic is at the top of this page - that we are all doing the best we can, and at the same time, there is room for improvement. I also enjoy utilizing elements of ACT, MI, CBT, and narrative practices. Above all else, I believe the most important part of therapy is the foundational therapeutic relationship so oftentimes the first few sessions are utilized to build rapport and get comfortable with one another.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every individual is the expert of their own self and lived experiences. I aim everyday to model the tenants of intersectional feminism while acknowledging my own privilege as a cishet white woman. I firmly stand with the LGBTQIA community, Black Lives Matter, and any other group that aims to dismantle patriarchy and work towards equity and safety for all people. I believe the "traditional" ways of doing things have caused immense harm to vulnerable populations and I want to do my part to be a part of the solution.
