About My Clients
I work with clients to heal from past experiences, live authentically, and feel more connected to themselves. I meet each client exactly where they are, using resilience-based and social justice informed approaches. I prioritize providing you with a safe and affirming space for healing and exploration. I began my own therapy journey as a client, and I have experienced firsthand the positive impact that therapy can have in a person's life.
My Background and Approach
I use an integrative and trauma-informed approach, and draw from a range of theories to suit your needs. My approach is primarily client-centered, solution-focused, and social justice oriented. These approaches strive to create a genuine, empathetic, and collaborative relationship with the client, highlighting personal strengths, resiliency, and empowerment. Social justice prioritizes equity, access, participation, and harmony within our society. A social justice approach within counseling recognizes that individuals do not exist in a vacuum: no one exists independent of society, culture, and context. I have worked with individuals ages 13 to over 70 years old, members of the LGBTQAI+ community, college students, healthcare professionals, military, seniors, and mandated clients. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Counseling is for everyone. To feel the need for help with life's difficulties is normal. Calling a counselor is not an admission of a "sickness;" instead, it is a healthy, responsible way to approach problems. I began my own therapy journey as a client, and I fully understand the importance of working with a therapist where you can show up as your whole, authentic self. I am LGBTQAI+ affirming and use an anti-oppression lens, and I affirm that all individuals have the potential to live fulfilling and emotionally healthy lives. I celebrate diversity in all forms, and am committed to my own antiracist work. As a mental health provider, it is my priority to provide you with a safe and affirming space for healing and exploration. I acknowledge the ways in which systemic racism, oppressive societal conditions, and historic trauma can take a toll on both mental and physical health.
