About My Clients
I welcome clients of all backgrounds who are ready to revive their sense of connectedness. I aim to create a space where clients can feel safe and secure enough to show up as their most authentic selves. Most of my clients want to work on trauma, anxiety, relationships, and sexuality, and many are part of sexual minority and gender expansive communities. We'd likely be a good fit if you're looking for someone who can be a warm, compassionate presence with a dash of humor and gentle challenge.
My Background and Approach
I have degrees in mental health counseling and human sexuality studies, and am currently pursuing a PhD in human sexuality studies as well. I am also an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. I like to work from internal family systems, narrative, and queer feminist perspectives, which I find help clients to acknowledge the external and internal systems that shape how we show up for ourselves, in our relationships, and in the world. Once we have a good picture of those systems and how they affect you, we can begin to understand how to reach your fullest potential within them. I also encourage regular self-compassion practices. These combined frameworks have been helpful for my clients in addressing the issues that they bring to therapy with me.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you know yourself best, and that having a therapist who can see and understand you for who you are is imperative to healing. I like to get to know the systems that shape each of my clients on interpersonal, intrapersonal, and societal levels, which often involves thinking about social justice and oppression and the ways we interact with those concepts in our daily lives.
