Welcome. You’re safe here. A gentle reminder that often when people start therapy, they have thoughts like “things aren’t bad enough for me to get help” or “no therapist will want to work with me because I’m too much”. I'm here to tell you, there’s no such thing as "not sick enough" or "too sick" to get support. Compassionate care and support can help you move towards peace and healing in your life. Eating disorders can be all consuming - but you can find a life beyond.
My Background and Approach
As a parent and eating disorder survivor myself, I understand your pain and can support you using both my professional expertise and empathic understanding. I work with individuals through a relational and person-centered lens. I use humor and kindness mixed in with evidence-based practices to help you understand yourself better, in order to find new ways to function. You'll understand what's behind your eating disorder and make positive choices to engage in recovery.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone deserves peace and healing. All people are good and beautiful - all bodies are good and beautiful! I work from a Health at Every Size lens, and join in the anti-diet movement (there's nothing that drives me MORE crazy than diets!). I've learned in my own journey how vital it is to embrace your true self, whoever that may be and how detrimental it is to try to be anyone else - this is often where we see problematic coping skills like eating disorders, anxiety, etc. When we love ourselves completely, we no longer need to lean on negative coping skills.
