About My Clients
I work with teenagers and adults, and I find I work particularly well with college-age and emerging adults. I'm especially passionate about offering women, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent clients a safe, affirming, and empowering space. Much of my work with clients revolves around exploring and understanding the root of their core beliefs and values in order to shift toward authentic, positive change. I strive to help my clients access and cultivate a life that feels true to them.
My Background and Approach
As a counselor, I strive to collaborate with you by offering warmth, clarity, and support. My counseling style embodies humor, sincerity, and genuine connection. I take an integrative approach to therapy by tailoring my treatment to your unique issues, experiences, and preferences. Above all, I try to provide a welcoming space for clients to share and process their experiences and emotions. I often use humanistic, cognitive-behavioral therapy, internal family systems, and attachment theory in my work. These approaches allow us to explore the roots of your experiences, values, and patterns and examine how they contribute to the fabric that makes you you. My main goal is to empower you to move forward in ways that feel more fulfilling. This can look like working to help you feel more comfortable setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, better understanding where "unhealthy" coping mechanisms come from, or developing ways for you to feel more comfortable and confident in yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that mental health looks different for everyone. I approach each client without judgment, only seeking to better understand how your values and beliefs create meaning for you. I also believe that therapy works best when the therapist and client work as a team. This means that I regard you as the expert on your life, and this knowledge contributes just as much to successful therapy as my own knowledge. I believe in fostering a holistic connection that honors every part of my client, meaning that I am always willing to incorporate meaningful hobbies and creative approaches into our work together. I'm an avid knitter and artist, and I love rock music, hiking, poetry, and animals. I'm also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and I welcome people of all cultural identities into my counseling space.
