About My Clients
Engaging in therapy takes courage and may be challenging at times. I work to make you feel safe and valued. I also believe in the healing effects of laughter and seek to use humor and principles of positive psychology in my practice. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, substance abuse, grief, couples therapy and sex and intimacy. I am a good fit for a client who is motivated to grow and change and appreciates a warm but direct approach to therapy.
My Background and Approach
My work experience includes working at Evergreen Recovery Centers and at the Lytle Center at Swedish hospital, where I met with couples. I also have additional training in sex and intimacy as well as Gottman couples therapy and EMDR (a trauma treatment). I am collaborative and client centered, I work hard to align therapy with your goals for yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and relationship organizations and am LGBTQ+ affirming. I work from an oppression lens and attend to the ways in which my clients have experienced marginalization or discrimination and to validate the harm those experiences create. It is my greatest hope to never pathologize an individual or relationship when their symptoms are connected to systemic and societal failures. I also believe that each of my clients is the expert on themselves and knows ultimately what they need for healing, I am here often to help in the discovery and implementation of their own wisdom.
