About My Clients
I notice some of my best work comes about when working with clients who are dealing with gender/sexuality minority stress, difficulty in relationships, ADHD, Autism, anxiety and depression. I've been working in mental health since 2010. My approach strives to center my clients' experience as the expert on their own situation and I work to help them understand themselves more deeply and make meaningful plans for change, where appropriate.
My Background and Approach
I have years of experience in the mental health field in various different roles. As a counselor, I make use of Attachment and Systems theories to help provide a framework of understanding my clients' social and relational location. I then work to establish and maintain a good sense of rapport and understanding while assessing what goals clients have for themselves and create a plan for moving toward those goals while helping process what change looks and feels like as client try to grow.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Every person has their own story they are living and are the best interpreters of their own life. My function as a therapist is to bring attention and understanding to these stories and help clients with building new ways of being within their stories. Each client is going to have unique goals, difficulties, and experiences. At the core of it all, we all want to feel understood.
