About My Clients
I'm passionate about working with clients who are seeking treatment for relational trauma, especially Queer people who are currently in or were formerly in fundamentalist religious communities. I also work well with people seeking treatment for anxiety, OCD, and those who are neurodiverse (especially those who are diagnosed with ASD or ADHD). My clients are both looking to understand themselves and their stories, as well as gain practical skills to help manage their symptoms.
My Background and Approach
I'm a licensed psychologist. My main approach is psychodynamic -- this means that my client and I try to understand together how patterns from the past, present, and in the therapy room help us understand the client's story. I believe the therapeutic relationship and experience in the session are an important part of the healing process. When clients are looking for more structure or immediate relief from symptoms, I will often use techniques and approaches from CBT, DBT, and ERP. I always tailor things to specific clients -- therapy is in no way one size fits all.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm Queer affirming and anti-racist. I deeply respect client's spiritual beliefs and the complex interactions those beliefs may have with experiences of oppression. I spend a lot of time advocating for the LGBTQ community in conservative religious spaces, by providing education, training, and consultation to those who are willing to learn.
