About My Clients

Learning/attention issues, autism, chronic illness and other mental health conditions can make navigating the everyday emotional ups and downs of life HARD. Keeping up with the demands and responsibilities you have can leave you feeling confused, overwhelmed, sad, angry, worried... You might feel exhausted, but you're not broken. You might need support, but that doesn't make you less than. You already have so many strengths, and I provide space to find, grow and develop more.

My Background and Approach

I use a variety of approaches with my clients, but overall, I see therapy as a collaboration rooted in the trusting and comfortable relationship we build with each other. We might explore emotions and ways of thinking that developed in the past so you can understand the influence they have on your present. Or we might use tools and techniques like mindfulness or whatever we find works for you to help you reach your goals for growth and/or healing in the here and now. This stuff is never set in stone and we can adjust or re-evaluate as you progress. Keep in mind that growth and healing isn't linear; therapy can have its ups and downs too. I will follow your lead, because you know yourself best, and I may also challenge you to examine yourself and others from different angles. MY goal is for you to feel free to express yourself and show up as exactly who, how and where you are in your life right now. I am here for it and here for you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My commitment to social justice is a fundamental building block of my identity as a therapist and as a human. Anti-oppressive and culturally inclusive mental health resources are hard to find in Texas. As you've probably discovered, there is a gap in services when it comes to therapists who feel comfortable and competent working with folks with different life experiences and communication styles. I recognize how intersectional identities like race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, gender, disability, and socio-economic impact us and I am dedicated to honoring and supporting every aspect of your identity. I have been an activist and advocate since I was a teen and have remained involved with movements and campaigns that center the rights and needs of historically oppressed groups. The "hill I will die on" right now is working against ableist policies and practices at interpersonal and institutional levels.
