About My Clients
Mind constantly racing? Does the idea of talking about yourself or emotions seem overwhelming? Have others shared you're too sensitive? Or lights, textures, smells, or sounds impact your mood? Does your body feel stressed (tension, a sense you always have to be on, not feeling safe? Maybe you wish the speeding heart, pit in your stomach, or sweaty palms could show up less often?). I’ll join you where you are and together we will explore awareness of your thoughts, emotions, body, and reactions.
My Background and Approach
We will collaborate to learn what is of most value to you and how we can support you on your journey to be the person you want to be. It does not always have the be the way it feels now. As a therapist who blends complementary therapeutic modalities, I work with compassion, empathy, and being honest, the occasional curse word to assist you in embodying your potential. My approach builds upon a person-centered foundation. I support with a relaxed and conversational style. I am trained in Somatic Experiencing (body based) and Brainspotting. I also weave in Acceptance and Commitment Theory, attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, parts work, mindfulness based styles, and executive functioning support. In the office, feel free to move the pillows, dim the lights, stare out the window the whole session, grab a fidget, pull out the yoga props, make a cup of tea, or let me know other ways we can tailor this journey for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work from the belief that you are the expert on you and I am here as a support for your journey. It is my intention to stay curious and open and to support you with non-judgement. As someone who is neurodivergent I can understand that the external world can affect our moods and how we process and communicate. I strive to create a welcoming environment that allows you to shape the therapeutic office space to best support you. I have and do work with clients that identify with the LGBTQIA+ community. I also work with clients of different faith backgrounds. My personal journey has taken me first through a career in pharmacy and then one in teaching yoga and mindfulness. I bring all of that life experience along with my masters in counseling to support my clients. I believe feedback is necessary to receive as a therapist and I will invite clients to share their feedback of our process as they see fit.
