About My Clients
Oftentimes, we find that the skills learned in life are no longer serving us and we need help in building effective coping techniques. I work alongside individuals to manage emotions, distress, anxiety, mood issues, perfectionism, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships.
My Background and Approach
I work from a person-centered approach, allowing my clients to achieve their goals in their own time, while also providing gentle accountability. I encourage and support without judgement. I pull from an array of therapeutic modalities to fit my client’s needs using evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. In our work together, I will invite you to begin investing in yourself - to implement boundaries, increase self-compassion and flexibility, practice self-care, improve your relationship with emotions and, most importantly, see your worth in doing this incredible work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
From my experience working in this field I have a deep respect for those who seek out therapy. The vulnerability that one must have to face the problems of their lives should be acknowledged and celebrated. While vulnerability can be judged as a weakness, I challenge those with this perspective to see it as courage. It takes grit to admit we need help and even more so to accept it. I believe that bringing compassion to the work is also a valuable part of therapy. If we do not think that we deserve to feel better about ourselves and to create change, then we are getting in our way. Fostering compassion for oneself opens the door for acceptance of your life experiences and opportunities to move forward.
