About My Clients
I commit to working with folks from all different walks of life. From a culturally humble and LGBTQ+ affirming foundation, I work alongside of adults and young adults (ages 18+). While I work with a variety of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, or life transitions, I have a specialized background in serving individuals struggling with substance use, religious trauma and other spiritual issues, queer identity exploration or concerns, and attachment-related injuries.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a person-in-environment and strengths-based approach. I begin by conceptualizing my clients by examining the many elements in their lives that contribute to their whole self. I believe that each of us are the sum of our parts and each of those parts whether its race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or faith or religious tradition, should be handled with care and curiosity. While examining the factors in the client’s environments that may be impacting their presenting problem, I also consider how these factors offer the client unique strengths that can be drawn from to improve their treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
By drawing from attachment theory, I encourage clients to consider how they relate and connect to the primary figures in their lives and how that impacts their present day wellbeing. From this foundation, I utilize multiple evidence-based forms of therapy to intervene with my clients and address their presenting problem. Such forms of therapy that I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I do not believe in a one size fits all approach so I will utilize interventions from some if not all of these forms of therapy in an attempt to provide a holistic pathway of growth and healing.
