About My Clients
I work primarily with clients whose coping mechanisms are no longer helping them cope. At one point, the thing they had done to keep themselves safe or alive worked. Now, it's creating a barrier to the life they want to live. If you have experienced trauma - especially religious trauma, sexual assault or domestic violence - I am not afraid to walk alongside you in working through it. My goal is to provide a safe space - a safe relationship - where you can address pain and trauma.
My Background and Approach
I have specific experience working with people battling substance abuse, and with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I primarily use mindfulness, somatic invtervention, parts work, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in sessions with my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in a better world through community organizing and collective action. I have extensive experience working with people who identify as LGBTQ+, and I’m part of the community myself. I acknowledge where I sit as a white woman, and do regular work to try to decolonize my practice and to be a safe mental health care provider for all. I also acknowledge that I may not be a safe person for you, and that’s ok.
