About My Clients
I have over ten years experience working with a diverse range of communities, including veterans, adolescents, young adults, to children and families. Along with my experience working with various communities, I have many years of experience as a therapy client which also informs my work as a therapist. As a neurodiverse therapist, I welcome other neurodiverse people into my therapy community.
My Background and Approach
I approach therapy using a variety of therapeutic modalities to help fit you, because no one person is the same. I use narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, DBT(dialectical behavioral) informed therapy, and CBT(cognitive behavioral) informed therapy. I also have a trauma informed and sex positive approach . This means that I treat you as the expert of your life. I’m not here to tell you what to do or administer dry clinical sounding advice. Rather, I’m here to offer insight on your challenges and to act as a partner in exploring and building your story.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m passionate about helping you identify points of your life that have been difficult, as well as past trauma, and using storytelling and narrative techniques to help see your life in a new, healthier way and offer potential for growth. In both my creative and professional lives, I’ve found myself driven by a desire to explore narrative spaces and the ways in which the work of developers, artists, and healthcare professionals intersect to offer healing. After graduating with my MSW, I was lucky enough to put my passion for stories to work as a visiting scholar at USC. There, I got to experience firsthand the power of games and virtual reality to heal. As someone who has experienced games from both a player and design perspective, I can offer unique insight into the ways games can help, or hinder, your long-term goals.
