About My Clients
Are you queer? Do you have a queer family member, partner, or kid? I provide queer & gender-affirming mental health care, WPATH-based psychosocial evaluations & letters of support, & mental health support to individuals, couples, parents, and families like yours who are often navigating confusing & less than accepting social & care scenarios. Have you experienced trauma? Unfortunately, queer people are more likely to have trauma. I help clients like you process trauma so you can move forward.
My Background and Approach
As a queer person, I know our community has historically been harmed by the mental health field. That's why I use transparent and collaborative postmodern models to provide affirming, trauma-informed, strength-based care. I am a LMFT in Iowa and Wisconsin, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a Certified Family Trauma Professional (CFTP), and a Doctoral Candidate for a PhD in Couples and Family Therapy at the University of Iowa.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm active in the LGBTQ+ community. I've founded and facilitated free virtual LGBTQ+ Support Groups; been a Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil guest speaker & host; spoken at local schools & colleges; hosted queer cultural competency trainings; published peer-reviewed research centering queer mental health experiences; and more.
