About My Clients
My clients work with me to create balanced and fulfilling lives, however that may look to them. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I celebrate individuality with my person-centered approach tailored to each client’s specific needs and desires. As a strengths-based counselor, I help my clients make meaningful change by tapping into strengths and skills they already have. My clients see progress in understanding of their identity, communication skills, and anxiety management.
My Background and Approach
I completed my Bachelors degree at University of Missouri and my Masters at University of North Carolina. I specialize in LGBTQIA+ concerns, work or school-life balance, life transitions, and anxiety. I am sex positive, kink-affirming, poly-friendly, and work from a body liberation lens. I started my career in school counseling, and given the short-term nature of that work, my clients can expect solution-focused sessions and skill-building if desired. I take a relational approach, which focuses on the therapeutic relationship and has a conversational feel. I am a strengths-based clinician and tap into previous successes and skills already held by the client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people are entitled to support that is empowering and free of judgement. I believe that culture and upbringing influence the way we perceive our world, and nobody's experience or opinion is incorrect. I believe that there is room for humor in therapy, and that time with pets are the best coping skill. I believe in equity, and therefore do my best to make therapy accessible to all and participate and donate to social justice-related movements. I believe that while your 20s and 30s are incredibly overwhelming, they are a time for experimentation and exploration, and that should be exciting.
