About My Clients
My ideal client shows up to therapy ready to dive into any topic they feel most comfortable talking about for that session. I love to give my clients the ability to have a big say in what we talk about every session given this is your time to express anything you want/need to! I am big on using CBT in session which works with your mind in challenging, reframing, and restructuring any negative thought patterns you may engage in!
My Background and Approach
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy are the guiding theories I use when working with my clients. CBT helps in highlighting the negative thought patterns that we may engage in and not even realize. CBT is a way to not only have me challenge your perspective, but start to teach you how to challenge and reframe your own thoughts outside of session. Tools such as CBT really assist in what it takes to start changing the mindset that is no longer serving you. Narrative therapy helps tap into your underlying thoughts and feelings when it comes to how you see yourself as a person. If how you see yourself is not in a positive light, narrative therapy and my approach will help in challenging and replacing these thoughts along with mindfulness tools and skills added as well!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. I also believe that starting therapy is the first step someone can take in order to work towards becoming their desired self. Mindfulness is a tool that you will see used throughout session and encouraged to use outside of session, no matter the issue at hand.
