About My Clients
How have you really been feeling as of late? Maybe you're noticing it is becoming increasingly harder to keep pushing past everyday challenges, or you might find you're feeling low/cranky and these feelings are strange and uncomfortable to experience. Whether you can pinpoint what is bringing you to therapy or you just know something is off but you can't quite name it yet, what you do know is that you are ready for things to start shifting.
My Background and Approach
The world is a messy and complicated place, and like John Donne said, no man is an island. What I hope to offer here is a space of resistance from the structures that have kept us all in a chokehold. The way I view therapy is as an opportunity to reconnect with your own humanity. My approach is very conversational and without hierarchy: I have knowledge on theories, philosophies, and coping tools, and you have the expertise of your lived experience. Instead of working with an understanding of your experience only in terms of diagnosis and symptom presentation, I incorporate a decolonizing worldview. That helps us both understand how structures such as capitalism and white supremacy impact you and your communities, and by extension, your mental and physical health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we come into this world naturally curious, flexible, connective, and creative. We all have enormous capacity for compassion and empathy, however, being in the constant grind of capitalism keeps us in a perpetual isolated burnout cycle. I believe colonization has been and continues to be our collective trauma wound.
