About My Clients
I specialize in working with mostly adults using trauma therapy modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) to assist with healing from past traumatic events and managing the symptoms impacting life following trauma including depression and anxiety. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness based and Solutions Focused strategies.
My Background and Approach
I received my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2005, my Master's degree from Marywood University in 2009, followed by licensure as a Social Worker. I spent 13 years working in the mental health field working as a therapist and behavior specialist primarily with children, adolescents and adults, as well as with specialized experience with Autistic children, teens, and adults. I relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 2020 and have been working in private practice focusing on the use of trauma therapy and EMDR mainly with adults.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that trauma, particularly childhood and family of origin trauma, can significantly impact our symptoms including depression, anxiety, attention deficit issues, chronic pain and others. Trauma can impact the healthiness of our relationships, work and values, and ability to manage stress. I believe with trauma therapy, especially use of EMDR, can assist with managing our symptoms, showing a great deal of healing can occur with the intensity and frequency of how our minds and bodies respond to distressing experiences. My priority is creating a safe and non judgmental space where security and healing can occur. I am trained in Anti Racist practice and am a safe space for individuals in the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
