About My Clients
Are you concerned about your gender identity or sexual orientation? Do you fear rejection from family or friends? As a member and advocate of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how hard interpersonal struggles with loved ones are, especially when your identity is politicized. Perhaps you are experiencing feelings of anxiety, loss, and lack of motivation lately, or maybe you're just not sure how to adjust to a new situation. These are challenging times, and I am committed to helping you navigate them.
My Background and Approach
Katie Hazel is an Associate Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University. She specializes in stress, anxiety, and depression with a focus in LGBTQ+, racial, and feminist issues. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methods, Katie is committed to helping people work through their feelings of stress, anxiety, doubt, sadness, and isolation. Her approach is relaxed, thoughtful, engaged, and collaborative. Katie utilizes her experiences as a young lesbian and biracial woman to empower people with diverse backgrounds and guide them toward fulfilling lives of confidence and kindness. She has helped young LGBTQ+ individuals through the coming out process and dating experiences. Katie is open-minded, non judgmental, and committed to being a source of understanding and support for her clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a lesbian-identifying, biracial woman, it is incredibly important to me that my clients feel safe, empowered, and understood. The whole reason I pursued a career as a therapist was to be the therapist I always wish I had. I have worked with adolescents and adults with a wide array of identities and ages, and I am dedicated to providing affirming, empathetic care for every single person. I strongly believe that everyone deserves to be understood and heard, and everyone deserves quality, positive care.
