Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York

About My Clients

With a compassionate, understanding approach, I provide a safe, nurturing space for teens and adults to work through in my "virtual" office. Regardless of your diagnosis, I encourage you to collaborate with me. It's worth it to work together to help you or your teen achieve your goals; don't be shy! I encourage feedback in my sessions and that can be cathartic for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and symptoms of trauma. I specialize in parts-work (IFS), mindfulness, and DBT.

My Background and Approach

I have over 10 years of experience working for the hospital in my area as a social worker, however I've worked in several jobs within this system in positions on the business-side and the patient care-side. As a result I have a wealth of knowledge about healthcare and systems/people that support it. Additionally, I'm a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed at age 5 and have a lived experience with chronic illness that informs my approach for clients with ongoing health issues. I know what it feels like to be working with doctors, and moreover how stress impacts my teen and adult clients. Not everyone understands what it feels like to live with chronic condition(s), whether they are physical or mental or both. I do. I'm empathetic and want to truly help my clients via relational, experiential, parts work, and DBT. The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a large part of my job. There is no "one" way to help someone. Sometimes we just want to feel heard!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

If something we're talking about upsets you, let me know. If you want to dive deeper into your issues, let me know. If your parent (if you're a teen) wants to join the session, let me know. If you prefer to talk about your day-to-day stuff, let me know! It's all important in my virtual "office" for my clients to feel comfortable and open to collaboration. I've worked at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and provided therapy to children and parents who had a history of abuse, I'm passionate about the VAWA and lobbied for improvements in Albany, and I organized the first "One Billion Rising" event in the Czech Republic in 2018.
