About My Clients
Has your secret desire has been for someone to swoop in and make it all better? Do you hold both love and hate for someone who is or was in your life? Are your emotions or memories in charge, leading you astray from becoming who you are? My clients are ready, willing, and able to address the problems they present with: typically, traumatic sexual relationship issues such as teenage IPV, sex addiction, survivorship of incestual and/or childhood sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and the like.
My Background and Approach
Outside of systemic achievements, I have lived experience in both trauma and privilege that positively contribute to my specialized therapeutic focus. I aim to support you in surviving or thriving, dependent upon your personal context, through person-centered, culturally-relevant, and relationally-focused counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a counselor, I believe that my role is -to be a middle person between the evolving field of psychology and a client; -to provide a balance of support and accountability; -to explore, brainstorm, translate, support, modify, and refine personal efforts to change, process, and grow; and -to support you in growing into and loving your authentic Self. I believe that the root of disconnection, danger, pain, and suffering in the United States is a unique blend of colonization, patriarchy, capitalism, and systemically weaponized fear. Normal responses to this context are often pathologized, and I commit to holding space for your expertise on your reality within our sessions. While recognizing that neurobiology can be the root cause for certain experiences, many issues that clients present with are systemically preventable- particularly when considering human-perpetrated trauma. Therapy alone cannot change our world to prevent this harm; it requires large-scale, radical social change.
