About My Clients
Do you often find yourself going back and forth about making a change in your head? Is part of you wanting to make that change and part of you not feeling sure or quite ready yet? This is all part of the change process, and you are probably further along than you realize! I work most often with clients who are anxious, perfectionistic, struggling to balance their work/home lives, or people who are trying to work through religious-based trauma. You're not crazy, you're just stuck!
My Background and Approach
I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, with about as many different challenges as you can imagine. Throughout my journey as a therapist, I’ve kept one question in mind “what helps people make the change they want to see?”. My theory of practice focuses on two main areas, what I call the “why” and the “how”. The “why” is about working together to get a deeper understanding of where your concerns started. The “how” is about what we do with that knowledge, and how we move forward. Some of my clients come to me looking for either one, but many are looking to integrate both, to feel a sense of self-acceptance, and to feel more whole. I utilize evidenced-based approaches (ACT, DBT, MI, ERP, EMDR) to help clients develop new skills, and lean into their current strengths so they can move toward the life they want.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Knowing that your identity and culture will be respected helps build trust. The services I provide are secular, racial justice allied, gender-affirming and LGBTQIA+ allied (I'm a part of this community too!), and body positive. I have also worked with military service members, spouses, and family members for years. If you have any questions about how this affects my approach, please feel free to ask during our consult call.
