About My Clients
Sometimes we need a sounding board, encouragement if we're unsure, a supportive ear, or a cheerleader to help us celebrate small victories. As a therapist, I can fill of all these roles and more. Asking for help is the first step and I'm ready to be your biggest fan.
My Background and Approach
I started my therapist career in Los Angeles community mental health (a children's agency and work with LGBT and HIV+ clients) and also have experience in group private practices. I am endlessly positive and supportive, but also straightforward and honest. My clients are the experts in their life, but I believe I join them for a short time as a teammate and guide. I approach challenges and concerns from a strength-based, collaborative perspective, believing that all of us have the capacity to improve our situations. We're all products of families, communities, and society. I help my clients understand the role these systems play in their lives and presenting concerns. My goal is that my clients outgrow me; that they develop a rich support system and apply the skills outside of session.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a cisgender, biracial, Jewish, military spouse. Despite a long stint in California, I'll always be a Midwesterner at heart (Ohio born and raised). I have an undergraduate degree in acting, so I'm always down for performing. I'm an active advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. I'm passionate about exercise and also have a personal training certification.
