About My Clients
My clients are adults (18+), and while there is great diversity among them, they are united in feeling pain and distress, as well as in a desire to create a happier, more peaceful life. They frequently believe that they are not good enough, have a powerful inner voice of self-judgment and shame, and often put the needs of everyone else above their own. They want to feel more in control of their actions, as well as to create healthier, more harmonious personal relationships.
My Background and Approach
I am an LCSW and work with a diverse population of young and older adults. My initial training was focused on attachment theory, which guides me to explore early family and caregiver relationships as means to understand a client's sense of self, strengths and vulnerabilities. My approach has since expanded to include principles of mindfulness, and mind/body connection, through which clients begin to understand, accept and befriend their own inner experience. If welcome and appropriate, I enjoy exploring my clients' belief systems regarding faith and spirituality, as both of these areas provide great opportunity for healing and peace. Mostly recently, due to an expanding need for services in these areas, I have developed a keen interest in, and have enjoyed working with, clients in the Ethical/Consensual Non-Monogamy/Polyamory and BDSM/Kink communities. My goal is to create a welcoming, non-judgmental and safe space for all my clients to explore their true selves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves respect and empathy, and that we are each doing the best we can navigating our lives with the skill sets that we have. Therefore, my approach is to welcome clients without judgment. My treatment involves encouraging clients to cultivate self-awareness, acceptance and forgiveness (either for self or others), to help them feel empowered to affect growth and change. On a personal note, I consider myself an ally of multiple vulnerable populations, including the LGBTQ+, BIPOC and AAPI communities, and work to further my education on how to be a better advocate.
