About My Clients
I work with individuals, couples, and families from pre-teens (11 yrs+) through seniors. I am passionate about supporting LGBTQ individuals, their partners, and families of all types. I am bilingual and I offer all of the above services in both English and Spanish. Soy bilingüe y ofrezco terapia individual y de parejas en inglés y español. My clients struggle with challenges such as relationship stressors, major life transitions, stress, depression, and anxiety.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach stems from my belief that each of us inherently has the tools we need to solve our own problems. However, life is complicated and emotions are powerful, so it is easy to lose sight of this ability. In counseling sessions, I work hard to create a space where my clients feel safe, respected, supported, and fundamentally understood. Once this foundation is in place, I serve as a guide as you seek insight into the origin of your challenges, and begin to feel empowered to change unhealthy patterns in your life. My style is integrative, which means I approach each individual and their needs uniquely. Some of the interventions I utilize come from cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, developmental, and mindfulness theories. I believe counseling can be a powerful tool for gaining a better understanding of ourselves, clarifying our goals, and building an empowered and fulfilling life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe counseling is for everyone. I have seen my own therapist at many stages of my life. Seeking support is a sign of self-awareness, strength, and courage. You should be proud of yourself for beginning this search. I am a passionate ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe everyone should be entitled to express themselves and live their lives in a way that feels authentic to them. I believe our relationships are some of the most important, and most powerful components of life. When we experience stress in our relationships, it can have a profound impact. For this reason, I specialize in supporting clients through many different relationship challenges: break-ups and divorce, healing from past relationships, processing and integrating family experiences from childhood, and more.
