About My Clients
My clients come from a variety of backgrounds, identities, orientations, and they have a variety of mental health needs. I work largely with people experiencing difficulty with anxiety, depression, trauma responses, minority stress, interpersonal relationships, and managing life's variety of stressors. I provide individual therapy, relationship therapy, and family therapy. Collaboration is key!
My Background and Approach
I have a BA in Psychology and a MA in Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I have a background in community mental health, crisis services, and advocacy. I serve as a North-East Ohio Representative for the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE of Ohio). I have also provided counselor education on creating affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ folxs. Your therapy can be goal oriented and focused on specific areas, a space to share without a plan, or a mixture of both. If you believe it would be beneficial to practice skills and coping mechanisms outside the session you'll be provided with those exercises. I am highly motivated to find the exercises and techniques which work best FOR YOU. The theories I utilize most frequently are Cognitive Behavioral, Attachment, Acceptance & Commitment, Person Centered, and Solution Focused.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights, Black Lives Matter, Indigenous Rights, and Non-Traditional Relationships. I believe counselors should both be providing services to the client and advocating for change on a systemic level. I see it as my job to seek out the ways in which abuse, trauma, and minority stressors impact out mental health and provide counseling that is well informed. I hope to provide a space in which each client feels able to be their most authentic self, feels seen and validated, and is provided the tools or resources they're seeking.
