About My Clients
Navigating adolescence & young adulthood can be one of the most stressful things we do in our lives. From physical changes, emotional ups and downs, relationships, big life decisions, this period of time is major & can be confusing to figure out alone. Without the right support, we can feel lost, stuck, hopeless, & disconnected from what matters most. If this sounds familiar to you, know that you're not alone. I'm ready to ride the roller coaster with you and figure out how to get off of it.
My Background and Approach
I have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, with a specialty in child and adolescent mental health. I've always been passionate about helping young people and have gained valuable experience in this area over the past 10 years. I offer a collaborative, personalized, and skills-based approach. I believe therapy is most successful when there's a genuine relationship and a willingness to work together as a team. I'll spend time asking questions to get to know you, go at your pace, and work with you to create goals for our time together. I believe in teaching you "how to fish," meaning we'll spend time learning tried and true skills to give you the confidence to manage problems, emotions, thoughts, etc. on your own. Learning new skills requires practice, so I'll ask you to implement what you learn with me outside of our sessions. I'll hold you accountable by checking in and because I know how hard it is to try something new, I make it a point to celebrate the wins with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Latina immigrant raised in South Florida, I take a culturally-sensitive approach in working with individuals, considering their values, culture, faith, lived experiences, and worldviews. I am mindful of how context and systems impact our development, serve as a source of strength and support, and potentially reinforce or maintain problems (Encanto, anyone?). I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and actively seek out opportunities and resources to provide affirming care. I believe in intersectional feminism and weave in feminist interventions into our work when necessary. I practice what I preach in therapy and won't ask you to do anything I don't trust. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, but I'm an introvert at heart. I love being in nature and traveling to new places, binge-watching the latest shows, and attending live theatre.
