About My Clients

Have you experienced therapy in the past but maybe felt like the experience was too stuffy? Do you worry about judgement in the therapist’s office and find yourself filtering what you share? I know this reality is true for many people and my goal is to provide you with a new way of experiencing therapy. I have worked in all levels of care and I truly believe in a warm, holistic, and genuine approach to therapy. There is space for processing, crying, laughing, and anything else you need!

My Background and Approach

I will utilize both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) throughout our work together to set a framework and present some level of psychoeducation. While the development of coping skills and understanding our thoughts and patterns to deal with distress and aid in emotion regulation will be important to our work together, my ultimate goal in therapy is to be flexible and holistic in my approach, working alongside you in a collaborative manner to make powerful change towards the life that you envision and desires for yourself. I honor that you are the expert of your own life, and as a therapist I am present to help process, empower, and seek joy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My reason for choosing social work as a profession was directly related to the values that this field promotes which align perfectly with my own core beliefs and values. This means that I believe in the dignity and worth of all people, and understand each individual in the context of the societal systems around us. Being inclusive and affirming to all individuals, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and culture is top of mind in my practice. I aim to practice cultural humility at all times. Another part of my training is Veterinary Social Worker, which is the VSW by my name. In simplest terms, this means I specialize in the relationships between humans and animals. For this reason, in addition to “traditional” therapy, I can help guide you through the grief experience of losing a beloved companion animal or manage compassion fatigue or burnout which is often experienced by animal helping professionals such as veterinarians.
