About My Clients
If you worry about your place in society, are experiencing a sense of loss, or are just trying to figure out how to get through life, then you've come to the right place. The world can be pretty rough out there and sometimes we just need a bit of outside help to process things or learn how to cope with it all. Whether you want to work through some things or build skills I hope I can help you out.
My Background and Approach
As a Nicaraguan/American, I've got an ability to relate to people that haven't had a maybe "traditional" upbringing here. I pay special mind to how culture and social pressures influence our mood and other issues people have going on. I also have 3 years of experience with leading a grief group and have a decent level of insight into how to help process losses ranging from personal health, to family, to animals. I'm also trained in EMDR to help people understand and work through trauma. My whole approach is based off whatever you find most helpful or even helping you figure out what that is. That means you won't find me telling you what to do, unless you specifically ask for it. I can help guide things when they feel murky however I always keep in mind that therapy is a place for you to get something out of, not for a therapist to convince you to do something.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I understand there's few things we're born with the knowledge of, so we have to learn pretty much everything as we go. Sometimes that works and sometimes what we learn stops working at some point along the way. I believe we keep that ability to learn throughout our whole life though and my job is to support people as they figure out how they want to continue living and learning. I hold no judgement for different belief systems or values because I understand we all just want to find what works for us. If you've ever felt judged by a therapist before, I hope I can be a counter for that. Feel free to reach out if any of this resonates with you.
