About My Clients
I’ve found that addressing both the obvious and subtle impacts of trauma to often be the key to resolving long-standing problems with depression, anxiety, interpersonal concerns, and emotional dysregulation. Many clients come to me when they’ve had unsatisfying experiences with therapy that have left their deeper issues unaddressed. While this work can be challenging, I find it deeply rewarding to help my clients find meaningful relief from their emotional pain.
My Background and Approach
A native of Louisville, I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2003 with dual degrees in psychology and sociology. I went on to earn my Doctor of Psychology degree from Spalding University in 2012, completing an APA-accredited clinical internship at the State University of New York at Buffalo’s Counseling Center. I’ve practiced in a variety of settings including outpatient community mental health clinics, university counseling centers, and group private practice. I specialize in hard-to-treat issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, and cycling mood disorders. I use an integrative and interpersonally-oriented approach that incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapies, dialectical behavior therapy, and EMDR. Additional areas of expertise for me include mindfulness-based approaches to health and wellness, depression, men’s issues, relationship concerns, struggles pertaining to membership in socially marginalized groups, and most general difficulties.
