About My Clients
I specialize in supporting the queer community, individuals aged 60+, those experiencing job burnout, parents/guardians, PLWH, adult children of substance users, and creatives. While my focus is on LGBTQ+ issues, I welcome individuals of all identities and orientations whose needs align with my expertise and are a good fit for collaboration.
My Background and Approach
After HS in 2008, I faced uncertainty, drifting through odd jobs and unsuccessful attempts at school. Social work was the first field that truly resonated with me, prompting a move from NC to Chicago to pursue my education. In 2019, I earned my BSW from NEIU, where I interned at TPAN working with patients living with HIV/AIDS. I went on to complete my MSW in Mental Health from UIC in 2020, where I worked as a SUD counselor at Haymarket Center. Following grad school, I worked in housing, research, infectious disease, and addiction. I prioritize empathy, kindness, humor, and curiosity in my practice, fostering a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients. I respect individual autonomy and use a range of therapeutic approaches, including decolonized mental healthcare, queer-affirming care, narrative therapy, mindfulness, harm reduction, and client-centered practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the potential for growth and deserves compassionate care. I’m committed to ongoing learning and prioritize preventing harm, taking accountability when needed. I approach my work with humility, recognizing my limitations, and aim to create a safe, nurturing space for clients. My interests include HIV/AIDS care, prevention, decolonized mental healthcare, and advocating for the well-being of individuals who use drugs
