About My Clients
The client who works best with me is someone who likes a no-nonsense approach to working on substance use and addictive behavior. Instead of just talking about it, we will find real solutions including lifestyle changes that speak to who you truly are. Even if you are having other difficulties and are wondering if you use of chemicals or other addictive behaviors is contributing to your dissatisfaction in life, I can help you disentangle the web of programming that led to this point.
My Background and Approach
I have my license as a substance abuse technician. I am currently studying for my Master's in Social Work. I began by career in addictions counseling in 2017, and have been practicing in the Phoenix, AZ area ever since. Harm Reduction psychotherapy is my primary specialty. This means I can work with you even if you are not quite or may never be ready for total abstinence. I am also trained in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and client centered approach. This means that you are the primary guide on your journey, and I help you get comfortable with taking the steps necessary to accomplish your goals. Identifying what sobriety means to you is the key to conquering addiction. I work with individuals and groups. I am able to address anger concerns and how compulsive or impulsive use behaviors impact emotional regulation skills, mental health, parenting techniques, and all parts of life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you are the best expert on yourself. Addiction can cause someone to lose their identity, their goals, aspirations, and one of the best ways to overcome that is to take back your power. By figuring out your triggers, what hobbies you like, your coping skills, and what you want out of your life - you will have regained your purpose. I do not believe in "just say no". Addiction is far more than "just say no". I believe in praising the milestones, and helping process the bumps in the road. I believe in self-guided pacing, meaning you tell me how fast we work, and when we need to slow down. I am a safe space to explore who you are as an individual, and how sobriety fits into your values.
