About My Clients
I am passionate about helping you work through trauma, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, and grief. I know how impactful these issues can be from personal experience or from seeing those close to me experience them. I specialize in treating trauma with EMDR and CPT, and borderline personality disorder with DBT. I have extensive experience working with military, veteran, and civilian clients. I love working with clients of multicultural backgrounds and am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
My Background and Approach
Therapy is very rewarding but difficult work. I believe in meeting you where you are therapeutically while also encouraging you to challenge yourself in the therapeutic process. We will work together at your pace to ensure you are making progress that you can be proud of without becoming overwhelmed by the thoughts and emotions that arise. You are ultimately the decision maker about how to proceed forward in therapy and my role is to facilitate your journey and provide guidance and encouragement. I am an LPC in GA and an LMHC in FL. I hold a master’s degree in Counseling & Psychology from Troy University. My approach is tailored to your needs, strengths, personality, and identity. In addition to EMDR, CPT, and DBT, I utilize an eclectic and holistic approach to therapy which is person-centered and incorporates CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Existential/Logotherapy, and IFS approaches and techniques. I also utilize SMART Recovery if you are struggling with addictive behaviors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in treating you as an individual and never using a one-size-fits-all approach. I aim to always be genuine, relatable, respectful, & caring. I will work with you to build the trust required for productive therapy and to provide you with a welcoming space to openly share and process your thoughts, emotions, and struggles. The last thing you want is to begin opening up and dealing with those difficult thoughts and feelings only to feel judged, minimized, or invalidated. I also aim to empower you to tell me what you need from me and I thrive on any feedback you can provide me throughout the therapy process to improve your experience.
