About My Clients

My therapeutic support best serves LGBTQIA+ folks, cis parents of trans* kids, and straight men who are craving better relationships and ways of communicating. As humans, sometimes we need to be heard and sometimes we need to be understood, nurtured or challenged. My passion lies in sitting (and moving) with you through your current challenges while centering your unique identities and lived experiences. Together, we can build a toolbox to help you move through your life with greater ease.

My Background and Approach

My approach to counseling is varied and eclectic as a variety of theories, modalities and wisdom traditions have informed me and my work, such as somatic psychology, yoga and mindfulness as well as humanistic-existential, person-centered, and multi-cultural feminist frameworks. Through these orientations, I will work with you to help identify how both your past and society have influenced you and how to create a future that works better for you. I firmly believe that supporting you in understanding the impacts of oppression can help heal aspects of you that may have been rejected, shamed, or discounted and has the potential of bringing you closer to being and loving your authentic self.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I deeply believe that you have a natural inclination towards health and healing and that this inclination is strengthened through support and nurturance. So, I utilize a strengths-based and client-centered approach to counseling that is collaborative. You are the expert in living your life and inhabiting your body and I can provide expertise in psychology and movement science. Working together, we can create shifts in your mind, body, and heart in order for you to live a fulfilling life. Therapy is collaborative and takes effort and commitment from you, the client, and me, the therapist. To me, therapy is like turning the light on in a basement — illuminating all of our boxes (some boxes are ours, some need to be donated, and some never belonged to us). Turning the light on does not create boxes, but allows us to open and sort them. Therapy, like cleaning the basement, can be challenging and wildly rewarding (and freeing!) work.
