About My Clients

I tend to work well with people who are soulful and creative. Many of those I work with have always felt different, and have found ways to challenge the given norms of their worlds. I welcome all outsiders into my practice. I have particular interest and calling in working with those who carry in their hearts and spirits the wounds of personal or ancestral trauma through war, immigration, sexual violence, persecution or oppression based on race, religion, gender expression or sexuality.

My Background and Approach

Of the many theories I have learned and that have shaped and informed me, I mostly draw from Jungian, psychoanalytic and relational ways of working, as well as self-psychology, social justice and feminist frameworks. This means that I am deeply interested in the human unconscious as manifest in dreams, fantasies, religious and spiritual feelings, and in the ways our inner lives manifest in our bodies. And, I am equally interested in the interpersonal world, where our ethical calling towards kindness, care, consciousness and justice manifest in the actions we take in the greater community. I hold a Masters’ degree in Clinical Psychology with Social-Clinical focus from the New College of California, and a California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a certified analyst member at the San Francisco Jung Institute. I teach at the Sage Institute and at the Pacific Center for Human Growth, lecture at Jungian societies and consult to other psychotherapists.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

At the heart of my work is awe at how complicated, resilient and amazingly unknowable we human beings are. When we don't know our own selves and act with little consciousness, we can cause tremendous harm to ourselves and others. When our unconscious reveals to us whatever gifts and wounds had previously been silenced, lost or minimized in our own lives as well as the lives of our ancestors and cultures, we can come to harness our powers, talents and capacities. This is how we come to learn how to tolerate, honor and even embrace that in us which is limited, difficult or undeveloped. As you come to know more fully who you are, who and where you come from, it can also become clearer towards what greater center of wholeness and fullness you are developing. You can gradually shed the pieces that don't belong with you, simply because they are too large for any one person to carry, and to answer the calling of your own life to hold and cherish what is meaningful to you and truly yours.
