About My Clients

I have extensive experience working with trauma, LGBTQIA, and the veteran community.
My Background and Approach
Some people go to counseling because they are in crisis. Others go because they have a problem or because they just need someone to help them gain perspective and talk things out. Daily life can be hard enough due to trying to balance relationships, work, family, and our own self care. Then if you add in illness, loss, and trying to manage anxiety and depression it can feel overwhelming. Often times we are also struggling with past trauma. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental, warm, and honest approach. I strongly believe in people's capacity for resiliency and ability to flourish and live a full life despite painful experiences. I am committed to helping you create meaningful change in your life and find greater wellness, self-compassion, and joy. I love to support clients in unlocking the barriers that may be getting in the way of living the life they want by using a variety of modalities including EMDR, IFS, ACT, Ego State Work, DBT, CPT, PE, and mindfulness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was raised by parents very involved in various activist communities and I was always surrounded by people with different identities. I internalized this community approach to seeing the world and also incorporate it into my therapeutic approach. Our struggles are not the struggles of just an individual, but the struggles of an individual born into generations of memory as well as the narratives of our culture which we internalize and struggle to break free from. It's not enough to just hear about what your challenges are, but also the context in which these difficulties arose and how they continue to impact your daily life. Our story has dynamic threads from our communities and cultural discourses that need to be examined and untangled so that we can flourish in our lives. I look forward to bearing witness to your journey towards a more joyful and values driven life.
