About My Clients
Are you someone who has been struggling, and looking for more than surface level skills- you want a safe space to heal, and learn to thrive? Has your child been struggling and you want to better understand how to help them, and provide them with a place to understand themselves and how to function at their best? My clients are invested and involved in their own care, and as a therapist I function as a harbor and a guide to heal and function at your best.
My Background and Approach
All of my 20 years of experience have been spent working directly with children and young adults in a variety of settings. This experience gives me specialized knowledge about working with these populations. I am a person-centered therapist, meaning my work focuses on the person I'm working with: building a relationship and understanding what makes you tick. I am also trained in the Internal Family Systems model, and this guides my approach and the therapy. I trust that everyone has qualities that they can rely on to help them function at their best and heal what needs to be healed, and my purpose is to help clients find theirs through therapy. When working with younger children, I find that incorporating families and the grown-ups in children's lives is key to the work. For younger children, we focus on play to help children communicate their inner world, build skills, and navigate the world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people have the capacity to change and heal, and that therapy is and should be a supportive resource to help people in that mission. I find children and young adults to be resilient, dynamic, and engaging. I have training and enjoy working with neurodiverse populations, as well as with folks struggling with anxiety and trauma.
