About My Clients
Dr. Bailey specializes in working with those who have been diagnosed with a personality disorder, dissociative disorder, or those struggling with chronic relationship stress or identity development.
My Background and Approach
Dr. Bailey uses a psychodynamic approach to treatment which means 3 main things. First, Dr. Bailey believes in the unconscious and that we all have thoughts, feelings, wishes, and desires we might not be fully aware of that exert pressure on the ways we move through the world. Second, Dr. Bailey uses a developmental perspective to understand how ways of moving through the world or relating to others may have developed as an adaptive survival response to our primary caregivers and early life experiences. Suffering often indicates these strategies are not longer effective. Third, Dr. Bailey highly values the relationship built between clinician and patient, and understands that this is the best indicator of if a treatment will be successful. It is important to be able to bring all the parts of the self(s) into treatment, even those that might feel difficult or challenging to think about.
