In my work with members of the LGBTQ+ community, we will focus on the nuances of an individual's experience. We can use the therapeutic relationship to have meaningful conversations about a variety of topics including the use of labels, exploration of gender identity or gender dysphoria, the intersection of queer identity with other privileged or discriminated-against aspects of identity, social acceptance and rejection, and the challenges and joys of coming out and finding community.

As an LMFT, I am trained and experienced in the use of a variety of family systems theories, and utilize these interventions to support families in exploring their intergenerational patterns, typical methods of interaction and communication, and the spoken and unspoken roles and rules of their relationships. I will individualize my approach based on the goals of each family, working together with them to take into account their cultural values and desires for emotional closeness and intimacy.

I have extensive and specialized experienced working with individuals with eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, diabulimia, and OSFED at a variety of levels of care. I work closely with each client and family to explore the experiences and social systems that maintain eating disorder behaviors, as well as those that offer space for recovery. I can also provide referrals to other eating disorder professionals to create a well-rounded treatment team.

I utilize somatic interventions in therapy to build on other systemic/relational and cognition-oriented exploration and skills. This allows for a deeper understanding of the self, and one that accounts for the totality of the human experience.

I have extensive experience utilizing CBT interventions to explore and restructure unhelpful patterns of thinking and feeling, with an emphasis on allowing the client to identify which patterns are no longer serving them. We will utilize CBT as a framework to explore change in cycles of thinking and feeling that may be getting in the way, while continuing to allow space for respecting why these patterns were learned as our best effort for survival in the past.
