About My Clients
Ideal client: Anyone who is dealing with disordered eating, Queer community member, member of a marginalized group, anxious, dealing with pregnancy/adoption and parenting or trauma. My work is focused on helping you find peace, joy and acceptance of all of your parts.
My Background and Approach
I have been a therapist for over 40 years, a life coach for the last few years. I have worked in residential substance abuse, was a teacher for a number of years and spent the bulk of my work in private practice. My style incorporates intersectional approaches, somatic work, trauma work and I have been trained in individual, couples and group therapy. For those working on body acceptance I take a social justice informed, Health At Every Size approach. Therapy is a relationship about you in relation to others and yourself. We will explore how to love the you that you bring to others as well as to yourself. I do not have the answers, but I do have tools and questions to share with you. If you work with me, you will find that the one thing I always hope we can find is connection and humor in our work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer/cis woman, I believe if we don't look at how we filter ourselves through what the world tells us about ourselves and therapy can work to unpack that. We start with what we learned about ourself in family and add in the culture and world that exists around us. My work is to help you stand up to the detractors who don't help you find your deep creativity and satisfaction in life. The world is a crazy place and it is our job to find spaces to breathe as we navigate our relationships, our work and our identity.
